As 2016 comes to an end and everyone begins to reflect on what they may have or may have not accomplished, I figured I would share some goals of mine. I started photography as a hobby, mostly to distract myself from the monotonous 7am-5pm, Monday-Friday work week. I have met more people in the 6 months I have been shooting than I probably would have all year otherwise. I continue to admire the work of many while still finding a niche of my own.
Looking back on the past year I can’t help but to be thankful to have been motivated and mentored by good friends. Not everyone has someone to call up when you need help figuring out why your pictures are so dark because you haven’t quite grasped the concept of exposure (lol).
I’m also not one to dwell or spend too much time reminiscing. I believe life moves in a linear motion and continues moving forward. Either you keep up, or get left behind. So looking forward to the next 12 months we will call 2017, I intend to grow myself and my brand. I’ve got a few specific goals in mind that I’d like to permanently ink onto the interweb so that I can review come next year’s end.
- Post a picture every day. This is something I’ve been debating admitting commitment to in fear of failure. But what’s life without fear? I think this will be the hardest personal challenge for myself, but truly believe it will pay off in the end. So look forward to my 2017, 365 day challenge.
- Read one book a month. I don’t think this will be nearly as hard for me as the aforementioned. I love reading and want to expand my knowledge of writing even further in hopes of this blog taking off.
- Publish one blog post a week (minimum). I started this blog as a way to guide potential beginners in the photography world. Everyone needs a little help and I’m here to provide what little I can.
So here we go…. it’s December 31st, 2016. This process has already been more than I imagined it would be, and I’m just getting started.
